Google SERP Snippet Preview Tool — See Your Search Result Before You Publish
Your title tag and meta description are the first thing a searcher sees about your page. They decide whether someone clicks your result or skips past it. This free tool lets you check the live title and description Google is currently showing for any URL, or write your own copy to preview how it would look on both desktop and mobile.
How the Live Check Works
Paste any page or post URL and click Check result. The tool searches Google's index for the exact URL. If it finds the page, it returns the title and description Google is currently showing. If it doesn't, you get a clear, definitive notification: the page is not live on Google yet, with step-by-step instructions to submit it via Google Search Console.
This matters because a page can exist online without being indexed by Google. Copy that lives on your page's HTML does not appear in search results until Google crawls and indexes the page — which can take days or weeks. The live check gives you an honest answer about whether your page is actually showing in Google today.
What Happens When a Page Isn't Indexed
If the tool doesn't find your URL in Google's index, you get a prominent warning that clearly states the page is not live on Google. The warning explains the most common reasons — the page is new and hasn't been crawled yet, it's blocked by a noindex tag, or it's excluded by robots.txt — and gives you a direct link to Google Search Console where you can paste the URL and click Request Indexing.
You can also use the same panel to enter your title and description manually, which is useful for previewing how the snippet will look once the page is indexed.
Two Panels, One Preview
Check live Google result. Paste a URL and click Check. If the page is indexed, the fields fill in with the live data and the badge shows "⚡ Live from Google." If not, you get a clear notification with an action plan.
Write or edit your snippet. Type your own title and meta description. Character and pixel meters show whether they fit on desktop and mobile. The badge shows "✎ Manual input" to remind you this is a draft, not what Google currently shows.
Both panels feed the same preview, so you can see exactly what a searcher would see — before and after.
Why Google Truncates Snippets by Pixel Width
Google doesn't use a fixed character count to decide when to cut off a title or description. It truncates based on pixel width — how many pixels the text takes up in Google's default rendering font.
Two titles with the same character count can display very differently. A title full of narrow letters like "i" and "l" can run 60+ characters without being cut, while one full of wide letters like "W" and "M" might be truncated at 55. This tool measures your text using the browser's own text-measurement API — the same method Google uses — so you see exactly where the cutoff falls.
Desktop vs. Mobile — The Difference Matters
Desktop: Titles fit roughly 60 characters (about 580 pixels of width), descriptions fit roughly 155–160 characters (about 920 pixels).
Mobile: Titles can run up to around 78 characters, while descriptions are cut much shorter — usually around 110–120 characters before Google adds the "…".
Since more than half of all Google searches happen on phones, checking the mobile view is essential. A description that reads perfectly on desktop can end mid-sentence on mobile — where most of your traffic will come from.
Why Get a Page Indexed Faster
Google indexes new pages on its own schedule, but you can speed things up by submitting the URL through Google Search Console's URL Inspection tool. Add a link from an already-indexed page, and make sure your sitemap includes the new URL — both help Google find it sooner. A page that is live on Google typically appears in search results within a few days of submission.
Private, Fast, and Free
Manual previews run entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded. The live check sends only the URL you paste to look up the current Google result; no personal data, no tracking, no account. There's no daily limit and no watermark.
